Know the Do's & Don'ts Of Cold Room to Avoid Product Wastage The Main purpose of Cold Room is to store the Product in Hygienic condition & at correct temperature to maintain / enhance the shelf life of the product: The correct way to use the cold room in optimal way is to maintain the required temperature with minimal load on the Refrigeration unit. This is little tricky and by following some Do’s & Don’ts, we can easily achieve the same and also help in increasing the shelf life and maintaining the quality of the product. Do’s for the Cold Room: ( ü ) v   Storage Area should be kept clean, dry & well ventilated. v   All the used Packages, Boxes and Cartons should be disposed off properly after use. v   Product should be stored at least 6” above the ground in Racks or Pallets. v   The Doors, Corners and Floors should be cleaned regularly. v   The Gaskets should be wiped with Wet & Dry Cloths regularly. v   Temperature of the Cold Room should be checked &

The Next Big Thing – How Do Cold Rooms Work?

The Next Big Thing – How Do Cold Rooms Work? A Cold Room is basically a bigger version of our domestic Refrigerator; you can walk into it. The refrigeration system, generally a split type unit, in which the indoor unit is installed inside the Puf Panel Room & Outdoor unit is installed outside like an AC outdoor unit. That is the reason a Cold Room is most of the times called as a "Walk-In-Chiller / Walk-In-Freezer".      ❖      Major Parts of a Cold Room The Major Components of Cold Rooms as seen in our earlier Blogs are Puff Panels, Doors, Indoor & Outdoor Units, Controllers, etc. The panels act as insulation and preserve the temperature inside the Cold Room. Panels with Cam-Lock & Gaskets are better and easy for installation for Modular Cold Room as they give proper air tight sealing and prevent heat loss. In case of bigger Cold Storage (Warehouse Size) continuous panels (without Cam-lock) can be a cheaper option for the huge insulation requirement.   In th

Know The Simplistic Exclusive Elements Of COLD ROOM Dear FoodEnthupreneurs, In my last blog I explained about the different types of Cold Rooms. In this session we will explore the different elements of today’s Walk-in-Cold Room Walk in Cold Room: It is similar to our domestic refrigerator maintaining plus or minus temperature; the basic difference is we can walk inside the room. Elements of Cold Room: 1.      Puff Panels: These are the main elements of Cold Room ( CR ) forming the body of the CR. Panels are made from PUF – polyurethane foam insulation filled inside the metal sheets. These generally come in various thickness depending on the temperature and the height of the CR. For normal Walk-In, the height is @ 8’ -10’. We can follow the below thumb* rule for panel thickness based on temperature range: a)      For Temp. range +12 °C to +20 °C: 50 mm Thick Panel b)     For Temp. range +1 °C to +10 °C: 60 mm Thick Panel c)      For Temp. range

HOW GOOD DO YOU UNDERSTAND COLD ROOM? Dear Foodenthupreneurs, Do you feel that your Cold Room or the Refrigeration Equipment are very complicated to handle and when they give problem, its not your cup of tea or you don't want to look into it? If Yes, We will make it as simple as operating a new smart phone. When you will know the equipment, you will understand how to make the best use of it and also what exactly is the problem. To begin with this in this first session we will discuss and understand some basics of what is Cold Room & its type. Refrigeration: It is cooling of a Space, Substance or System to lower and/or maintain its temperature below the ambient temperature. This heat is rejected in the atmosphere at higher temperature. Refrigeration is generally used to preserve food & other items for short or long duration. It is also a crucial part of various processing application in food and other industries.   Cold Room: It is a large Refrigera
